The Optimist Club of Lindsay supports TLDSB students through Kawartha Lakes Food Source

Food scarcity is a reality for many students and Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) is fortunate to have many organizations in all regions of the Board that support student nutrition. Kawartha Lakes Food Source is one of those organizations. They have been vital in helping support the nutrition and breakfast programs in City of Kawartha Lakes schools by providing milk and fresh fruit each week for the past 22 years.

In a recent announcement, Kawartha Lakes Food Source shared that funding for their Grab N’ Grow program has significantly diminished, directly impacting TLDSB students. The agency relies on financial and food donations, which they have been seeing a decline in, but at the same time, an increase in the use of their services.

Thanks to the generous support from the Lindsay Optimist Club, and a local family foundation, the program will be able to continue next year, directly benefiting TLDSB students by creating healthy nutrition-based learning and working environments!

A huge thank you to the Lindsay Optimist Club for ensuring TLDSB students continue to receive this food!
