Hi all,
As the school year comes to an end, we wanted to send out a heartfelt thank you to all of you for your dedication, time, and hardwork.
Your commitment in supporting Irwin has made a meaningful difference on the students and staff. From organizing events, putting together fundraising initiatives, and just giving out a quick “yes” for our random motions.
We’re grateful for each of you, and everything you brought to this school year.
Attached are all our accomplishments this past year, we couldn’t have done it without you!
We wish you all an amazing summer break, and can’t wait to get back to work in the fall. —
Erin Hills,
Principal
Irwin School Council 2025 – 2026 Year End Report
TOGETHER THIS YEAR WE ACCOMPLISHED MANY THINGS!
Thank you to everyone who supported us!
● We held 7 well-attended school council meetings and had an email list of over 30
parents and guardians that have been engaged in school council events over the
year.
● We paid for the Graduation dinners for each of our 12 Grade 8 graduates.
● We organized and prepared 6 hot lunch fundraisers, resulting in profits of $2500
for Irwin!
● We ensured that every student was fed at all hot lunches, regardless of
participation in the fundraisers.
● We organized and facilitated a daily nutritional breakfast program for all Irwin
Students. (Thank you to Lynda and Rachel for leading it and their volunteers!)
● Hosted a Soccer Fest BBQ with Mr. Y, invited other schools to play a soccer
tournament with a fundraising BBQ raising $404.65.
● We secured $2850 in sponsorships from our generous community members that
paid for hot lunch expenses and allowed all profits to go straight to the school.
● We served the entire school a full, complimentary Thanksgiving Feast using
some
of the vegetables grown in our school gardens by our students and it being
hosted at Arrowhead Camp! (Thank you Becca and Pat Birnie!)
● We supported our students and staff by volunteering and leading activities on
field trips, in classrooms and at special events held at Irwin, such as the Terry
Fox
run and Track and Field day.
● We helped with the growing and planting of our vegetable and pollinator gardens.
● Celebrated Valentine’s Day with giving out valentine’s cards and pencils to all
staff and students.
● We served the entire school a free kidcutterie lunch on Track and Field Day and
brought the local firetruck for the traditional soak down!
● We raised $577.14 through poinsettia sales.
● We supported families with Hallowe’en costume exchanges at Irwin.
● We purchased a new BBQ and 2 new tents for Irwin.
● We represented Irwin at 4 DSC-PIC meetings with TLDSB Directors and
Superintendents and other TLDSB school council chairs.
● We got to welcome Wes Hahn (Director of Education of TLDSB) to Irwin and
have a great discussion.
● We used a $500 PEG grant and secured another $600 PRO grant for parent
engagement and hosted a free BBQ and Carnival themed event for all families
with face painting, cotton candy and games.
● We raised $1,058 at our Christmas Concert Bake Sale.
● We paid for the Ontario Planetarium to come and for students to enjoy the very
cool presentation.
● We asked students and staff for other wishlist items not mentioned above and
supported by buying: track and field supplies, learning tools, seeds and soil for
the garden, and more!
● Mark and Jesse Boothby donated all their time and machinery to finish the base
area for the outdoor classroom for Kinderland! All the material also got donated
(thanks to Haylie Boothby). The money saved from that project helped us provide
2 extra meals per graduate for graduation this year!
THANK YOU EVERYONE! WHAT A GREAT YEAR AT IRWIN!
