Parent Council Minutes – Nov. 12th, 2025

Principals Report – Erin Hills:
Early reading screener
- Done for all students sk-grade 2, Irwin does 3 times per year, results on report
card
Student teachers - Several at Irwin this fall
Remembrance day assembly - Very proud of kid’s behaviour, amazing presentations
- Thank you Mel for your organization and ideas that make these events so great
Irwin Events: - Take me outside afternoon. ⅞ students took leadership roles
- Trips: Pecca farm, Camp Muskoka
Other: - School cash: As of January 1, 2026, the fee will be increased to 4%
- Insurance form – Parent council insurance purchased for the whole school year(until end of Oct. 2026)
- Graduation
- Port Cunnington agreed to same price as last year. Cost is $50 per meal +
gratuity and tax ($67) – we didn’t charge the school cash fee last year, if
we have enough funds in graduation this year we will do the same. - Last September, paid for 11 students for the 2026 grad, need one
additional grad for 2026 - Next grad (2027) – 18 graduates
- The first pancake fundraiser (for grad) is Friday
Patti Blundell update:
- Poinsettia fundraiser up and running
- Sub total has to be $1000 for all orders to qualify for free delivery
- Order forms due Nov. 24
- Delivery Dec. 3, pick up Dec. 4 or 5
- School council bulletin board is up
- Wish list will be added to the board
Treasurer Report – Lynda - $6924 balance in the account
- See attached report
Hot Lunch – Joanna (October 30th) - Oct. hot lunch went smoothly. Made $536. Expenses $189. Used up food left
over from Thanksgiving Feast - Several donations from Camp Olympia
- November hot lunch Thursday Nov. 20th – Meatball subs
- Hot lunches will restart in January
Breakfast Program – Lynda
- Reminder the top shelf of fridge in the kitchen is only for after school program
- Organization for taking the food handlers course is in the works
- Thank you for all the donations from Camp Olympia!
Fundraising: - Patti bought card stock for the teachers so they can begin making Christmas
cards with their classes to sell at local businesses as a fundraising effort - Bake sale the night of the Christmas concert – date to be announced soon. More
volunteers needed to sign up on the sheet. Patti will send out an email to
previous bakers
