Pink Shirt Day at Irwin

What a super job this team of student leaders did in facilitating thinking around Pink Shirt Day for each class at Irwin. They shared the story of how Pink Shirt Day started with a small group of students who purchased and wore pink shirts to stand up for a fellow student. We shared dialogue around kindness, equity, and fairness. Our grade 8 crew also read a story about a rock named Ishi who shared many feelings(e.g., Loneliness, feeling like a failure or under pressure). This crew supported us to think about positive messages that we could say to Ishi or a friend to encourage them in such times. Students and adults then painted rocks with these positive messages and others that we will display in our garden come springtime. Keep spreading kindness Irwin. #goirwin
